In 1995, owners Bob and Jan Davis, struck by the beauty of the area, decided to make Five Branches Camper Park on Vallecito Lake their "home away from home." Today, this 27-acre park, bordering the San Juan National Forest, includes cabins, river front tent sites, group tent sites, RV sites, and some of the most beautiful Colorado wildflowers you will ever see. The Pine River flows by and the Vallecito Reservoir reflects the beautiful mountain peaks. The air is clear, the nights are cool, and the stars shine brightly at 7650' elevation!
Backing up to the Weminuche Wilderness, and 1800' of Lake and River frontage, wildlife can include fish, beaver, river otter, deer, turkey, raccoons, bear, chipmunks, ground squirrels, rabbits, marmots and other mammals. Birdlife sightings may include nesting eagles, ospreys, owls, hummingbirds, tanagers, flickers, jays, magpies, ducks, geese, warblers and more. Lake and river fishing on our grounds always produces a daily story or fish to share around the campfire. The "catch of the day" may include large rainbow and brown trout (18"-25"), kokanee salmon, and northern pike (33" +). Bass are caught on the lake, as well. Water level fluctuates each summer according to the winter snowpack and spring rainfall and runoff. Bring your camera, your fishing gear, stand-up board, canoe, or kayak and have some fun!
We hope YOU come see why Five Branches Camper Park, on Vallecito Lake, is one of "Colorado's Best Kept Secrets." We can't wait to see you!
And by the way, the park is pet friendly, so bring your furry and feathered friends along. (Maximum 2 pets permitted per site). Please keep your dogs on a leash around camp and at your site. (Extra clean-up bags are always outside the Old Campstore and at the fish cleaning station).
