OUR 21rst SEASON!
Reservations begin 1/19/15

In 1995, owners Bob and Jan Davis, struck by the beauty of the area, decided to make Five Branches Camper Park on Vallecito Lake their "home away from home."  Today, this 27-acre park, bordering the San Juan National Forest, includes 9 cabins, 10 river front tent sites, 2 group tent sites, 91 RV sites, and some of the most beautiful Colorado wildflowers you will ever see.  The air is clear, the nights are cool, and the stars shine brightly at 7650' elevation!

This wilderness campground 25 miles from Durango, CO, has been sometimes referred to as "Colorado's Best Kept Secret" (though it's been a campground under 2 families for almost 40 years). Backing up to the Weminuche Wilderness, and bordered with 1800' of Lake and River frontage, wildlife can include  fish, beaver, river otter, deer, turkey, raccoons, bear, chipmunks, ground squirrels, rabbits, marmots and other mammals.  Birdlife includes nesting eagles and ospreys, as well as several species of hummingbirds that demand attention. Lake and river fishing off our grounds was outstanding in 2014. The "catch of the day" included large rainbow and brown trout (18"-25"), kokanee salmon, and northern pike (33" +). Bass were caught on the lake, as well. Water level fluctuates each summer according to the winter snowpack and spring rainfall and runoff. Bring your camera, your fishing gear, and have some fun!

Our beautiful park offers guests a variety of things to do.  Facilities include  9 park models ( 6 one-bedroom cottages, 3 one-room mini cabins) as well as RV sites and  tent sites , with some of each located along the river or lake and in the woods.  We have a camp store stocked with some of the items you may have left at home, a laundry room with coin operated washers and dryers (and  small library), a covered outdoor meeting area to gather with friends, and campfire rings on your site for a warm, glowing campfire under a starry sky! You may also enjoy a hike or bike ride around the lake, swimming in cool mountain waters, or fishing, boating and tubing on the lake or river.      JUST RELAX!

We hope YOU come see why Five Branches Camper Park, on Vallecito Lake, is one of  "Colorado's Best Kept Secrets."  We can't wait to see you!

And by the way, the park is pet friendly, so bring your furry and feathered friends along. (Maximum 2 pets permitted per site).  Please keep your dogs on a leash around camp and at your site. (Extra clean-up bags are always outside the campstore and at the fish cleaning station)
